Starlight Films Developing Modernized Adaptation of ‘The Great Gatsby’

Starlight Films is branching off into non-Jethroverse material, as their first project that will be made after the current season of the series has been revealed.

Leonardo DiCaprio in Baz Luhrmann's film adaptation of The Great Gatsby.
The project is an adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s iconic American novel The Great Gatsby, with a modern spin on it: the film takes place in a high school, and the characters and storylines featured in the source material will be changed and shifted to accommodate the new setting.

According to Rowan Wood, co-founder and head of Starlight Films, the film is not a remake of Baz Luhrmann’s 2013 adaptation of the novel, but will instead be a direct adaptation of Fitzgerald’s book, albeit with a different location and time period setting.

As of yet, no casting has been announced, but it’s expected that the film will follow the book relatively closely in terms of plot; after all, it can only stray so far before it stops being considered an adaptation.

No further production details have been revealed.
